La technologie nous permet beaucoup, mais elle a rendu les genres musicaux confus tant ils se mélangent. Blackjoy est l'exemple type de cette nouvelle génération d'artistes décomplexés. Elevé au Rock FM, il découvre sa passion du rythme à travers Led Zeppelin, son goût pour l'expérimentation avec Sonic Youth et son obsession pour les chansons vient les Beatles. Pourtant un choc musical se produit lors de la découverte des 3 premiers albums d'Herbie Hancock: du Jazz modal, des sonorités pures, et le subtil mélange de mélodies et de rythmes complexes. S'en suivra un plongeon dans l'univers de la musique noire américaine, qu'elle soit Jazz, Soul, Funk, Techno, House et plus tard Disco. L'animation de l'une des premières émissions sur la French Touch sur l'antenne de Radio Campus Dijon amènera Jérôme Caron (Blackjoy) à rencontrer les labels parisiens en pleine explosion; et débouchera sur un premier job en tant qu'assistant de Bob Sinclar chez Yellow Productions en 1998.
Un premier maxi, "Untiltled", signé chez le tout jeune Project Recordings, fait de Blackjoy un nom respecté d'une scène club internationale allant des Masters At Work, Lil Louis à Phil Asher, Busy P ... Un deuxième maxi, Moustache, sort chez Yellow Productions en 2005 et confirme l'orientation Disco du jeune producteur français. La création du noyau dur de musiciens confirme également le désir de plus de mélodies. Thomas Naïm est à la guitare, François Faure aux synthés et Guillaume Farley à la basse.
Son premier album "Time" en 2007 chez Project Recordings mixé par Marlon Bois (Adrienne Pauly, Hugh Coltman, Seb Martel, M, Spleen etc). L'album accueille Sandra Nkaké, General Elektriks et Shawn Lee pour un mélange de chanson pop, funk, rock et jazz funk. "Headphone Drone" avec General Elektriks restera en playlist sur Nova pendant presque un an avec sa version originale ou son remix reggae effectué par Blundetto. Le producteur anglais Phil Asher remixe Metalbossa avec Sandra NKaké et en fait un groove house taillé pour les pistes de danses.
Printemps 2010, Blackjoy enregistre un nouvel album avec une équipe de choc : des photos de Yann Stofer, une histoire de Flo Behar Aboudaram et un graphisme soigné de Guillaume Leroyer.
En résulte un amour de vacances de/en 48 minutes : Erotis. Sandra Nkaké en est la voix féminine tandis qu'Aqeel est le porte parole masculin. Erotis est un album disco, une ode à la danse, à l'ondulation corporelle, à la détente cérébrale. Disque pop aux accents funk, ce deuxième album sort en format vinyl et digital. L'été sera chaud.

Technology allows us a greater liberty while simultaneously blurring boundaries between musical genres. Blackjoy is a perfect example of this new confident generation of such artists . Raised with FM Rock, he discovered his passion for rhythm through Led Zeppelin, experimental tastes courtesy of Sonic Youth, with his obsession for chansons thanks to the Beatles. His discovery of the 3 first Herbie Hancock albums intoxicated him with modal jazz, acoustic sounds and a subtle mix of melodies and complex rhythms. His musical journey of self discovery not complete without a sweet decent into black American music: jazz, soul, funk, techno, house and latterly disco. Being presenter for one of the first radio shows from the then emerging French Touch house movement on radio Campus Dijon, brought Jerome Caron, a.k.a Blackjoy, to meet the various effusive Parisian labels and to finally get his first music industry job as Bob Sinclair´s assistant at Yellow Productions in 98.
A first "Untitled" EP out on the young Project Recordings label led Blackjoy to be a respected name in the international clubbing scene alongside fellow stalwarts MAW, Lil Louis, Phil Asher and Busy P. A second EP, "Moustache" out on Yellow productions in 2005 confirmed the disco orientation the young French producer had taken. Thereafter he quenched his melodic thirst, with the addition of core band members, bringing the line up to Thomas Naim on guitar, François Faure on keyboards and Guillaume Farley on electric bass.
His first album "Time" was released in 2007 on Project Recordings. The album welcomed the seasoned collaborators Sandra Nkaké, General Elektriks and Shawn Lee for a mixture of pop, chanson, funk, rock, and jazz-funk. "Headphone Drone" (feat. General Elektriks) was in steady rotation on Radio Nova for close to a year, in both its original and Blundetto reggae remix guises. UK house producer Phil Asher remixed "Metalbossa" (feat. Sandra Nkaké), shaping a groovy house sound for dance floors everywhere.
Back in early 2010, Blackjoy recorded his latest album, resulting in the birth of the 48 minute love story : Erotis . Joined by Sandra Nkaké supplying feminine vocals and adept musical spokesman Aqeel. Erotis is a disco album, an ode to dance, that resonates to the ripples of your mind. A pop record with funk accents, this second album will be available on vinyl and digital. The summer is hot, and Blackjoy makes it hotter.
